The Promoting and Assessing Significant Learning online workshop is based on the best-selling book, "Learning Assessment Techniques, A Handbook for College Faculty," by Elizabeth F. Barkley and Claire Howell Major. The workshop takes you through all the steps required to promote and assess significant learning in an efficient, effective manner that is seamlessly integrated with your teaching. Using a course of your choice as the focus, you will receive individualized guidance as you construct a learning assessment technique in steps that includes (1) identifying significant learning goals; (2) designing effective, pedagogically sound instructional activities; and (3) developing a strategy for analyzing and reporting on learning outcomes in ways acceptable to a variety of stakeholders.
The workshop includes multiple opportunities for interaction and feedback from an experienced coach and other workshop participants. It's fast-paced, includes due dates for activities, and active participation is required.
Access to the book, Learning Assessment Techniques, A Handbook for College Faculty is not required for participation in the workshop, but it is highly recommended.
Registration closes on November 15, 2018.
